COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Leading off for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum's 75th anniversary celebration, the Boston Pops.
Officials at the baseball shrine in Cooperstown say the orchestra will be the "house band" for a live entertainment event scheduled for Aug. 2, 2014, a week after induction weekend. The event will be held at the Clark Sports Center, site of the annual induction ceremony.
At a news conference last week in Hollywood announcing the 2014 event, Hall of Fame officials said other acts for the show will be announced later this summer. Organizers say the event will bring together top recording artists as well as celebrities in film, television and baseball.
This year's induction weekend is July 26-28.
The National Baseball Museum opened its doors in Cooperstown on June 12, 1939.
