Box Office: 'Monuments Men' Marches To $550,000 Thursday Night

George Clooney 's Monuments Men earned $550,000 Thursday night after rolling into North American theaters. The World War II comedy-drama, co-financed by Sony and 20th Century Fox, opened in 2,494 theaters Thursday night. For comparison, Monuments Men is trailing slightly behind Sony's Captain Phillips, which earned $600,000 Thursday night with 8 p.m. shows in October, and went on to have a solid $25.7 million debut. Monuments is likely to open in the $15 million to $20 million range in North America for the weekend.
