A study from the University of Rochester Medical Center found that during sleep, the brain cleans itself of toxins that have accumulated. The toxins created problems such as Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders. Researchers found that we wouldn’t be able to think if the process were to occur during waking hours and the brain shrinks up to 60% to allow the toxins to be removed effectively.
