British lawmakers fiercely debated whether to join U.S.-led military action on Syria , but Pentagon officials insisted the timetable for missile strikes was unchanged. U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron was forced to step back from supporting U.S. action after lawmakers demanded to see evidence that Syria?s President Bashar Assad had used poison gas on his own civilians.
