BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The city that gave us Buffalo chicken wings now wants to give visitors a new destination where they can wash them down: A brewery district.

A group of downtown restaurant operators and local tourism officials on Wednesday announced plans to establish a Buffalo Brewery District centered where to breweries already exist and two others are being proposed.

Supporters of the plan say the growing popularity of craft beer would help draw more tourists from out of state and neighboring Canada to the restaurants, bars and hotels in downtown Buffalo, home of a popular annual chicken wing festival held over the Labor Day weekend.

Downtown Buffalo is already home to two craft breweries, the Pearl Street Grill and the recently opened Pan-American grill.
