WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Building Museum in Washington is exploring the neighborhood of Anacostia in a new exhibit produced by teenagers from the region.

Teens were equipped with digital cameras and sketchbooks during a four-week summer program at the museum to examine the history and culture of Anacostia. They looked at the neighborhood's architecture and interviewed residents and workers in the area to create photographs, writings and artwork for an exhibit on what makes the neighborhood unique.

The show, "Investigating Where We Live," opens Saturday and will be on view through May 2013.

Teens in the program worked with museum staff to decide how to tell the stories they found in Anacostia. The students also planned and built the exhibit themselves.
