CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls have appointed Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen senior adviser to president and chief operating officer Michael Reinsdorf.

Pippen has been serving as a team ambassador. In a statement issued Wednesday, Reinsdorf says the new title will "better reflect his role with the Bulls." He says Pippen has a "great rapport" with the players and that his "generous personality and sense of humor" allows him to "connect with our partners, fans and front office."

Along with Michael Jordan, Pippen helped lead the Bulls to six NBA championships in the 1990s.
