A 70-year-old man died after the school bus he was driving went into a ditch in Culpeper, but officials said that none of the students on the bus were injured.

Shortly before 7 a.m. Friday, Jerry W. Heddings was driving a school bus on Kirtley Trail when he had a health-related issue, according to the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office. The bus went off the road and into a ditch.

Heddings, who is from Culpeper County, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. He died due to health reasons, not because of the crash, officials said.

There were seven Eastern View High School students on the bus at the time of the accident, but none were hurt, authorities said. The students were picked up from the scene by their parents and others.
