Jenna Bush Hager, Today show correspondent and former first daughter, is engaging in a little carpetbagging -- the New York resident has been named editor at large for Southern Living magazine. She'll contribute a monthly column and write for the magazine's The Daily South blog, the New York Times reports.

Southern Living has struggled to attract younger readers, and the magazine's editor in chief Lindsay Bierman told the Times that the relative youth of Hager (31) was partly behind her hiring. Hager, a Texas native, says her heart is still in the south and that she grew up reading Southern Living. "My mom had a subscription," she said. "It's something that I've always known about."
