The folks over at BuzzFeed are not only opening up a D.C. bureau, but they're trying to make a splash at the political conventions. Case in point: They are renting out the Florida Aquarium in Tampa, Fla., for a Republican National Convention party next week and providing partygoers with the opportunity to hang out with penguins. Yes, folks, we hear that live penguins will be making an appearance. The party will also feature mermaids and a gelato cart, we're told. The invite-only RNC party will take place Aug. 29.
At the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., BuzzFeed's event will be a "Party Animals"-themed fete at the Charlotte Discovery Place, according to the Huffington Post. That venue comes with a rain forest room, a 3-D theater and an aquarium that will be used as a bar. Food will be Southern-style, complete with "grits spoons," mac and cheese lollipops and BLT shots. BuzzFeed's DNC party will be held Sept. 4.
