$1,482.36: How much it cost the D.C. government to send Councilman Jim Graham to Elizabeth Taylor's funeral in 2011. According to the Washington City Paper, Graham was reimbursed for airfare, a hotel and rental car for his trip to Los Angeles. He told City Paper he "went as a representative of the Council," and later emailed a statement saying that he attended the funeral at the invitation of the Elizabeth Taylor Foundation.

Graham did know the actress through her work on HIV/AIDS. In 1993, he visited her in her LA home about dedicating the building that housed the Whitman-Walker Clinic (Graham was the clinic director at the time) to her. Taylor visited the clinic for the dedication ceremony and spent two days there.
