In Afghanistan, Secretary of State John Kerry headed a ball to Zahra Mahmoodi, captain of the Afghan women's soccer team, during an official visit to the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.

Later in the day and thousands of miles away, at the White House, President Obama repeated the maneuver with LA Galaxy player Landon Donovan during a ceremony honoring the Major League Soccer Cup winners.

"I hope you guys caught that," the president then joked to photographers. "That doesn't happen very often."
