'Canes activate Joni Pitkanen from IR

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes activated defenseman Joni Pitkanen from injured reserve.

The team announced the move Saturday, roughly six hours before the Hurricanes were to play the Florida Panthers.

Pitkanen missed seven games with a lower body injury. He leads the team with an average ice time of 24 minutes, 30 seconds, and shares the team lead with a plus-minus rating of plus-8. He has one goal and five assists in 12 games.
