He scored an Oscar nomination fo rhis role in Captain Phillips, and has been hanging with some of Hollywood's A-list thanks to his new found stardom! According to The New Yorker, Barkhad Abdi, who was working as a chauffeur when he was cast in the movie, is seriously struggling financially. The 28-year-old played Muse, the leader of the group of Somali priates who take on Tom Hanks in the best picture nominee, and despite the films $55 million dollar budget, Barkhad only earned $65,000 for his performance. "When Abdi is in Los Angeles to promote the film, he subsits on a per diem, good at the Beverly Hilton, where the studio likes to put him up," the report states. The paper goes on to say that his clothes are loaners and the town car he uses is only available when its for official publicity events.
