Natwar Gandhi, the District's chief financial officer, will appear before lawmakers on Wednesday to answer questions about reports of mismanagement in his office and decisions on tax assessments that might have cost taxpayers millions.

Gandhi and his aides are due to appear before a D.C. Council committee late Wednesday afternoon, hours after the office's former internal affairs chief will detail for legislators why he abruptly resigned last week.

Mayor Vincent Gray has said he has confidence in Gandhi, whom officials say is likely to signal new reforms are afoot in his office while aggressively defending its actions.
