The charge has been dropped against the 10-year-old Alexandria boy who showed a toy gun to others on a school bus and then brought the fake weapon to school the next day, according to media reports.
The boy had been charged as a juvenile with brandishing a weapon. He had also been suspended from Douglas MacArthur Elementary School, where he was a fifth-grader at the time of the incident.
On Feb. 4, the boy showed the plastic, orange-tipped toy gun to others on the bus ride home from MacArthur and did not tell his schoolmates that the weapon was fake. School officials were notified about the incident that night and contacted Alexandria police.
When the boy arrived at MacArthur the next day, officers found the toy gun in his backpack and took him into custody. He was released to his parents later that day.
