Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton bravely submitted herself to a Q&A session with the public on Tuesday, asking folks to tweet at her with the hashtag #askchelsea. Unbravely, she only answered the boring ones.
The ever-careful Clinton answered just six questions, including queries about what it was like to grow up in the White House ("an incredible privilege"), why she joined Twitter ("realized I was missing out!"), and why her parents named her Chelsea (after a song and the London neighborhood, a fact that has been part of the public record for years). Clinton declined to answer most of the questions, many of which asked her if she had interest in running for office and a surprising number of queries related to Sox, her pet cat from the White House. She also skipped questions on her favorite movie, Hostess snack, book, coffee drink, fusion food and whether or not she likes Harry Truman.
This being Twitter, the Q&A attracted a certain level of irreverence from the questioners.
"Don't you hate it when you eat popcorn and a kernel gets stuck in your teeth?" one gentleman asked. Others wanted suggestions on which Powerball numbers to play, when Clinton thought cat juggling would become an officially licensed sport, and whether she liked the restaurant Chili's. Clinton left the Twitterverse in suspense of her preference for Chili's or Applebee's.
