Former Vice President Dick Cheney voiced support for President Obama’s drone program in an interview with CBS’ Charlie Rose that aired this morning.

“I think it’s a good program, and I don’t disagree with the basic policy that the Obama administration is pursuing now in those regards,” he said.

He also approved of the president’s decision to kill Anwar al-Awlaki, an American citizen who was living in Yemen.

“He was clearly part of al Qaeda,” Cheney said.

“Should there be checks and balances in regards to that?” Rose asked. “I think when we hire the President of the United States, he gets to live in the big house, makes all that money, and he is getting paid to make difficult, difficult decisions,” Cheney answered.
