Cheney calls Palin pick 'a mistake'

"That one I don't think was well-handled."

- Former vice president Dick Cheney, assessing Sen. John McCain's choice of a running mate in 2008. Cheney told ABC's Jonathan Karl that he likes Gov. Sarah Palin, but her two years of governing did not qualify her for the position. "I don't think she passed that test ... of being ready to take over," Cheney said. "And I think that was a mistake."
