WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — A suburban Chicago woman has pleaded guilty to a reckless homicide charge in the death of a 5-year-old girl.
Carly Rousso of Highland Park entered the plea on Tuesday. The 19-year-old still faces a bench trial in Lake County court on a count of aggravated driving under the influence.
Rousso is accused of driving onto a sidewalk and killing Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento after inhaling computer dust cleaner in September 2012. The girl's mother and two infant brothers were injured but survived.
Rousso's attorney has argued that the chemical found in computer cleaner isn't illegal in Illinois. Prosecutors say the chemical was found in Rousso's blood shortly after the crash.
Rousso has been free on $500,000 bond. She had pleaded not guilty.
