Chris Matthews: 'I would be one of the stars of the Democratic Party'

"I know this: If I had run and won and beaten [Sen. Pat] Toomey, I would be one of the Democrats people talk about today. I'm not dreaming here. I would be one of the stars of the Democratic Party."

- MSNBC host Chris Matthews, describing his former political ambitions to Philadelphia Style magazine. Matthews ran for Congress in Philadelphia when he was 28 and considered running for Senate as recently as 2009. He told the magazine he has no plans to pursue office in the future.
