PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A new ad for Democratic U.S. Rep. David Cicilline (sis-ihl-EE'-nee) links his Republican challenger Brendan Doherty to presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Cicilline is running for a second term. The ad is scheduled to begin airing Tuesday.

It shows video of Doherty saying Romney would be "fantastic for Rhode Island." It goes on to say that Doherty shares Romney's anti-abortion position.

It also says Doherty and Romney want to repeal the health care reform law known as Obamacare. Doherty's campaign says the candidate wants to replace it with a better system. His political director says Doherty would oppose repeal if there was no better alternative.

The ad also says Romney and Doherty both oppose the Buffett Rule, which would increase taxes on the wealthy. His campaign says Doherty favors responsible tax reform.
