In the stranger than fiction category, James Carville, the political dynamo that orchestrated Bill Clinton's rise to power and who has gone to bat for his wife when assailed by critics, is joining Fox News Channel, often slammed by Democrats and recently by Hillary Clinton.
Not only does the addition of Carville help prove to critics that the news channel is interested in a politically diverse staff of commentators, the “Rajun' Cajun” joins a pack of Democrats already working for Fox including former Rep. Dennis Kucinich, advisor Joe Trippi, for Sen. Evan Bayh and strategists Pat Caddell and Bob Beckel.
Carville may be the most recognizable, however, with his trademark bald head and T-shirts and his rapid-fire delivery, especially when defending his side.
“James’ successful and storied career in politics over several decades is an enormous asset to Fox News,” said Bill Shine, executive vice president of programming for the nation’s No. 1 cable news network. “We are privileged to have him lend his breadth of experience, wit and dynamic perspective on the network.”
Besides a getting a star Democrat on their network, bringing Carville on also gives Fox and its viewers a chance for an insider's view on Hillary Clinton's planning for a presidential bid. For example, he has already signed on for the “Ready for Hillary” campaign.Paul Bedard, the Washington Examiner's "Washington Secrets" columnist, can be contacted at email@example.com.
