HGTV is calling Jason Abrams the "Jerry Maguire of Real Estate," as Abrams has made a career finding sports stars their homes. He's the focus of the new series "Scoring the Deal," which debuted Tuesday night on the home improvement channel. In the first episode, Abrams is helping out a familiar face: former Redskins running back Clinton Portis, who wants a pad with a view in Miami.

Curbed DC talked to Abrams before the episode aired. "Clinton has been a client of ours for almost a decade," Abrams told the blog. "I consider him a dear, dear friend." Abrams added that every house Portis has bought has been "amazingly unique," including his house in McLean, his estate in Gainesville, Fla., and the penthouse in Miami.

While it's not shown in the episode, Abrams also discussed hanging out with Portis at the White House over Christmas, as the two packaged supplies for the troops. "Everyone is walking through and looking at the trees and then they realize 'Oh my God, it's Clinton Portis,' " Abrams recalled. "That guy is so beloved in D.C. All of a sudden it became secondary that they were all in the White House."

"Scoring the Deal" airs Tuesday at 11 p.m.
