Closings, delays continue after latest snowstorm

WASHINGTON (AP) — As temperatures dipped to single digits overnight around the mid-Atlantic a day after another snowstorm, schools and governments in the region remained closed or delayed opening.

The federal government opened two hours late Tuesday and workers can take unscheduled leave or telework. The District of Columbia government opened two hours late and a snow emergency in the city has been lifted.

Maryland state workers had liberal leave Tuesday morning. Delaware lifted a state of emergency and driving warning Monday.

Icy roads are still covered by snow in many areas and transportation officials are warning motorists to be careful. Metro restored service to all bus routes with detours. Local airports warned travelers to expect some delays Tuesday as airlines return to regular schedules.
