NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — A struggling family-owned clothing store in North Kingstown will be able to stay in business, after raising more than $150,000 through an online crowdfunding site.
Wilson's of Wickford exceeded its $148,000 goal Monday on the site crowdtilt.com.
The store's owners say the bad economy and changes in the industry have made it tough to stay open. They were asking for the money to pay vendors, purchase new products and make some upgrades in the store.
The store was started in in 1944 by the Wilson family. Three generations of Wilsons have now owned it.
