On CBS ‘Morning’ today, former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed President Obama again for President.

Powell admitted that although he met with Mitt Romney recently, Romney did not ask for his endorsement, and remarked that he speaks with the president “frequently.”

Powell added that he doubted Mitt Romney’s capability for directing foreign policy, criticizing the “strong neo-conservative views” of Romney’s advisory staff.

Powell blamed Congress for failing to reach across the aisle, to move forward on fiscal policy, and praised Obama for his positions on climate change, immigration, and education.

Powell also added that he did not want “Obamacare” repealed. “I don’t want to see the new Obamacare plan thrown off the table,” he insisted, admitting that the plan had “some issues” that needed “fixed.”

“What I see when I look at that plan is 30 million of our fellow citizens will be covered with insurance, and I think that’s good,” Powell said. “We are one of the few nations in the world with our size, and populations and wealth that does not have universal health care.”

Calling himself a “Republican of a moderate mold,” Powell appeared annoyed after host Charlie Rose asked him if he would leave  the Republican party and become a Democrat.

“I didn’t say that at all, Charlie, but nice try,” he said abruptly. “I said I’m a moderate Republican and there are fewer of us.”
