BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The Boulder-based company that developed mix1 protein shakes and attracted an investment by Hershey Co. has dissolved.
The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/Yr5jdm ) Tri-US Inc., which operated as mix1 Beverage Co. and was majority-owned by Hershey Co., cleared out its office, shut down its website and stopped shipping its shakes as of Dec. 31.
A Hershey spokesman deferred comment to mix1's CEO Brian Murphy. Mix1 officials didn't return messages from the Daily Camera but told the beverage trade news provider BevNet that the Tri-US board determined that the investments needed to make mix1 a viable, ongoing business wouldn't generate a sufficient return.
Early last year, some mix1 products were recalled after yeast and mold were found in finished products.
