Sen. Mike Lee, Reps. Jeb Hensarling and Paul Ryan, Heritage Action, National Taxpayers Union and the Club for Growth are among the conservative voices calling for the end of the Export-Import Bank, a federal export-subsidy agency whose charter expires this year.

National Review's editors joined the chorus today, with an editorial calling the agency "cronyism concentrate." After some substantive policy arguments against the agency, NR makes a political one:

To win the trust of American voters, the GOP needs more ideas on how to boost middle-class wages and restore economic growth and security. But winning that battle won’t be easy when Americans have an ample number of reasons to believe that Republicans favor big business over the working class. It’s time to end one of them.
