Consumers See Payout From E-book Settlement

Nearly two years after the U.S. Justice Department accused five major publishers and Apple of colluding to raise e-book prices, consumers have begun receiving their share of a $166 million settlement. The civil antitrust lawsuit filed in April 2012 alleged that the five publishers and Apple conspired to raise e-book prices in a bid to stop Amazon.com from pricing digital best-sellers at $9.99.
