WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Corning Inc. has announced that it is cutting 100 salaried positions from its plants in North Carolina.

But the StarNews of Wilmington reports (http://bit.ly/RX8jLbW ) it is still not clear at which plants the cuts will be made. The company operates plants in Wilmington, Concord and Hickory.

Last October, the company announced it was trimming 500 positions worldwide because of the troubled economy.

Corning indicated in October that the job cuts would come early this year.
