CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Joanna Coles, editor of Marie Claire and recently named editor of Cosmopolitan, brought the Cosmo touch to the Democratic National Convention in the form of sex jokes.

While moderating an EMILY's List panel that included Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Ashley Judd, Coles dropped a few dirty nuggets that delighted the crowd.

"Some of you may know, indeed I didn't, that Cosmo has an app for sex position of the day," she said. "Somebody asked me what my sex position of the day is. I said frankly, if we're both awake, that's good enough for me."

She added, "If the Republicans win, none of us will be having sex anyway."

Coles also had some fun introducing panelist Val Demings, police chief of Orlando, Fla. "Before I was the editor of Cosmo, I wouldn't have been interested in the handcuffs," she said. "Now, of course, they take on a different meaning for me."

Though she was dressed sharply in a black skirt suit and color blocked top, Coles kept the conversation away from clothes, asking the panelists about campaigning, the small percentage of women in Congress, and how Congressional budgets affect women.
