DADE CITY, Fla. (AP) — A Pasco County judge is expected to set a trial date in the case of a retired Tampa police captain who is accused of shooting a man in a movie theater.

A court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday for 71-year-old Curtis Reeves Jr., who is charged with second-degree murder in the Jan. 13 shooting of 43-year-old Chad Oulson of Land O'Lakes.

Oulson was shot in the chest during an argument over Oulson's refusal to stop texting his daughter's babysitter during movie previews. Reeves attorneys say their client shot in self-defense.

Reeves remains in the Pasco County jail after a judge denied his request for bail in February.

Circuit Judge Pat Siracusa has issued an order indicating the trial could take place between Oct. 8 and Dec. 18.
