BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A court hearing is set for Monday afternoon in the lawsuit filed by former state lawmaker Woody Jenkins challenging the recent annexation of the Mall of Louisiana and two nearby hospitals into the city of Baton Rouge.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/UTGJ5B ) court records show the hearing is set for 1 p.m. in front of state District Judge Janice Clark.

Jenkins sued the city and the Metro Council last week claiming that the annexation complicates law enforcement duties between the Baton Rouge Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and "fails to meet the requirements of reasonableness" necessary for annexation.

The annexation was prompted by the movement to create the breakaway city of St. George in the southern part of the parish.
