PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Thousands of craft beer aficionados and brewers from around the globe are gathering in the Maine city of Portland for a two-day festival that's being billed as a showcase for the stars of the beer world.
The event, simply called The Festival, is having three tasting sessions — one on Friday and two on Saturday — with offerings from more than 70 beer, cider and mead makers. About 1,200 people are expected for each session.
For those who don't attend the tasting sessions, there are other opportunities to taste different beers. Local brewers are expanding their tasting room hours, and pubs and retailers are adding rare and unusual beers to their stock for customers to sample.
