On this day, April 22, in 1934, notorious outlaw George "Baby Face" Nelson killed Special Agent W. Carter Baum during an FBI raid in Wisconsin.

Nelson wanted to be known as Big George Nelson, but because of his youthful appearance, everyone called him "Baby Face." But rarely to his face.

Nelson was so violent and erratic, Al Capone booted him from his gang. Nelson then teamed up with John Dillinger.

Agents learned that the Dillinger gang was hiding at a lodge in Little Bohemia, Wis. While Baum and two other officers took positions at a roadblock, a car approached.

Nelson blasted the agents with two handguns.

Seven months later, Nelson was killed after running into two federal agents. Nelson killed both officers but was shot 17 times himself. He was 25.
