On this day, Oct. 26, in 1881, the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday faced off against the Clanton-McLaury gang in a legendary shootout at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Ariz. The two sides marched to about 10 feet of each other. Virgil Earp, the town marshall, shouted, "Boys, throw up your hands. I want your guns." Shots rang out, and the 30-second shootout resulted in the death of three cowboys...
