On this day, May 16, in 1990, Christian Brando, the son of Hollywood legend Marlon Brando, shot and killed his half sister's boyfriend at the actor's home in Los Angeles.

It was Marlon Brando who called the police from the estate on Mulholland Drive.

Christian Brando, 32, met Cheyenne Brando's boyfriend, Dag Drollet, that day and confronted him.

Christian accused Drollet of beating his half sister, who was pregnant. The two men got into a struggle over a gun when the weapon fired and killed Drollet. Christian Brando pleaded guilty to manslaughter and spent five years in prison.

Cheyenne Brando was Marlon Brando's daughter by Tarita Teriipia, a Tahitian actress who played his sweetheart in the 1962 film "Mutiny on the Bounty."

Cheyenne committed suicide in 1995. Christian died of pneumonia in 2008.
