ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The upcoming convention of the left-leaning Working Families Party is testing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's support among liberals.

The Working Families Party will nominate its candidate for governor Saturday in Albany. The party supported Cuomo in 2010, but many party leaders say the Democratic governor has been a disappointment when it comes to his business-friendly tax policies.

State election law allows candidates to run on multiple party lines. Polls show Cuomo's big lead over his Republican opponent, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, would be cut in half if the Working Families Party runs its own candidate.

Working Families Party member David Schwartz says he supports nominating a more progressive candidate. He praises Cuomo's support for gay marriage and gun control but says he has failed to address income inequality.
