Columbus Day is apparently the new St. Patrick's Day -- at least in the District. The Washington Post reports the city has granted 42 bars permission to stay open for 24 hours on Columbus Day. The list of bars, which includes a string of H Street watering holes, can serve alcohol until 4 a.m. Monday. It'll be the first test of a city policy passed earlier this year.
