D.C. GOP executive director Nicholas Jeffress is stepping down from what many consider a thankless job in a town where Democrats rule local politics. Jeffress plans to help out a bit through January until the D.C. Republican Committee votes in new leadership midmonth. Jeffress tells Yeas & Nays he's weighing a few offers before committing to his next move and plans to assist Patrick Mara's campaign for D.C. Council (in an unofficial capacity).

"D.C. is its own very special challenge as a Republican," he said. "2013 should be fun."
