About 3,400 D.C. employees chipped in and gave more than $800,000 to the District government's annual pledge drive for charitable organizations.

According to statistics provided by Mayor Vincent Gray's office, the city logged 3,422 pledges and raised $848,921.45.

Department of Corrections employees combined to pledge more than workers in any other agency, with 215 people giving a total of $72,853.69.

More employees of D.C. Public Schools participated in the pledge drive, though, and added $42,208.80 from 252 workers.

The District has more than 30,000 employees and has run its One Fund campaign for more than 50 years.
