D.C. police search for person of interest in sex assault

D.C. police are searching for a person of interest in a sexual assault case, and they're asking the public to help identify a man pictured in a security video from a Metro station.

The sexual assault occurred at about 11:18 p.m. on Sept. 6 on the 1300 block of 45th Place NE. The perpetrator was armed during the incident, but police didn't provide any additional details about the assault.

A security camera captured a person of interest in the incident leaving a train at the Deanwood Metro station and following the victim down the station's tunnel. Police described the man in question as a black male with a medium complexion in his early to mid-20s, 5-foot-7 and weighing 160 pounds. Police said he was wearing a white polo shirt with a dark stripe across the middle and khaki pants.
