NEW YORK (AP) — The Apollo Theater in Harlem will host a world premiere of a dance performance set to the music of the "Godfather of Soul" James Brown.

The legendary theater is partnering with the city of Lafayette, La., on "James Brown: Get On the Good Foot — A Celebration in Dance."

Set to premiere on Oct. 22, it'll feature dance numbers by six choreographers from around the world. A national tour is planned.

Dancers from the Philadelphia Dance Company will perform to the "I Feel Good" icon's music and also to new works influenced by Brown.

Brown performed at the Apollo more than 200 times. He died in 2006.

Apollo Executive Producer Mikki Shepard cited his enormous influence on funk, soul, R & B, jazz, pop, rock and rap.
