Day aimed at getting W.Va. girls into engineering

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Eighth-grade girls from nine schools will be in Charleston for the 5th annual "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day."

More than 40 engineering professionals are to be on hand Thursday to help more than 130 young women in creative design activities. They'll also have mentoring discussions.

In addition, they'll explore careers in science, math and technology.

The event is sponsored by Bridgemont Community and Technical College.
