WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police say three fatal shootings in the past 24 hours have brought the District of Columbia's homicide total to 24 so far this year.

That's double the number of people slain in the nation's capital at this point in 2013.

Police say 51-year-old Billy Harris was shot around 3 a.m. Saturday in northwest Washington. He died at a hospital.

On Friday evening, two brothers were fatally shot in front of a church in northeast Washington. Police say 34-year-old Khalid Bryant and 26-year-old Jason Bryant each had multiple gunshot wounds and had no signs of life when officers arrived.

Police haven't named any suspects in the slayings.

Police Chief Cathy Lanier has said domestic slayings are partially responsible for the increase in homicides.
