Dead woman found in Reston was pregnant, police say

A Reston woman who was found dead inside a smoke-filled apartment was pregnant, and police said that they are investigating her death as a homicide.

On Monday morning, firefighters went to an apartment on the 12000 block of Waterside View Drive for a report of smoke. After firefighters entered the apartment, they found 38-year-old Jennifer Lynne Pearson's body. Detectives determined that Pearson had trauma to her upper body.

Charge reportedly to be dropped against boy who brought toy gun to school

The charge against the 10-year-old Alexandria boy who showed a toy gun to others on a school bus earlier this month and then brought the fake weapon to his elementary school reportedly will be dropped.

The boy's mother told the WRC-TV that she was informed by the public defender's office that her son's brandishing a weapon charge would be dismissed. The mother also said that her son's 10-day suspension was reduced.

The Alexandria public defender's office told The Washington Examiner on Tuesday that it doesn't comment on pending cases.
