< p>MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Planners are drafting an ordinance to regulate wind turbines in Delaware County while a developer gathers property rights east of Muncie.

The Star Press reported Sunday (http://tspne.ws/13yxskC ) the Delaware-Muncie Metropolitan Plan Commission has begun drafting the ordinance and will hold a public meeting on it April 4.

Delaware County Commissioner Larry Bledsoe said E.ON Climate & Renewables North America is leasing land in the eastern part of the county. The company already has built the Wildcat Wind Farm in adjacent Madison County.

The proposed ordinance calls for wind turbines to set back at least 1,000 feet from a residence and 2,000 feet from a city or town. Commission Director Marta Moody says it's similar to those enacted by other Indiana counties with wind farms.
