House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., reminded vulnerable Democrats that they can't "hide" from the Affordable Care Act in the 2014 elections, after a fundraising trip on behalf of one colleague whose allies portrayed her as an Obamacare whistleblower in a recent campaign ad.
“The Affordable Care Act is ours,” Hoyer told the Arizona Republic. “You're not going to hide. You're not going to duck. It is ours. We promoted it. We believe in it. Sell it. It is good for the country. It is good for Arizona.”
He had a chance to give that advice to Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., in person, if she cared to hear it. "Hoyer was in the state last week for a fundraiser" for Kirkpatrick and Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz. "He told the Republic that Obama’s 2010 health-care reform law, despite its rocky rollout, will be a boon for them and other House Democrats who might face vigorous re-election challenges this year."
Tell that to the House Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC that released a Kirkpatrick ad featuring video of the congresswoman and press releases from her website.
"Ann Kirkpatrick listens and learns," the ad narrator says while showing Kirkpatrick talking to constituents. "It's why she blew the whistle on the disastrous health care website, calling it stunning ineptitude, and worked to fix it."
