Dems run away from stimulus

CHARLOTTE — Democrats like talking about Obama’s auto bailout and health-care law at this convention, but they sure don’t like talking about his $800 billion stimulus.

Check it out. According to the New York Times word-counter feature, the word “stimulus” has been said zero times. I’m not promising this is 100% accurate and up to date, but it’s telling. Dems have apparently decided that this huge bill, with its Solyndras, and its additions to the national debt, is poison.

(Four speakers have said “Recovery Act.”)

Slate’s Dave Weigel, a big stimulus fan, pointed this pattern out to me. “Nobody uses the S-word until they’re prompted,” he writes.
